A Born Political Candidate
Heidi Owens has been a community leader in Los Gatos area for nearly twenty years. After advancing to the executive level in a decade-long career at Cisco, she wants to apply her professional business skills and master level education to serving the Town of Los Gatos as an elected representative. Heidi has served as a Commissioner for the Town of Los Gatos on the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission. She was nominated by Supervisor Mike Wasserman and appointed to an out-of-district seat by Supervisor Dave Cortese on the County of Santa Clara Advisory Commission for Consumer Affairs where she advocates for privacy rights for the residents of the County.
She most recently worked professionally as a Senior Management Analyst in the CEO's Office at the County of Santa Clara, focused on legislative affairs in the privacy office. Prior to that, she worked for over a decade at Cisco Systems where she started as an MBA Intern and advanced through several roles to Chief of Staff in Acquisitions. Prior to her work at Cisco, she held progressively responsible roles in the telecommunications, training, and retail sectors.
She served previously on the executive board of the Los Gatos Chapter of the American Business Women's Association and on the board of Women in Telecom. She was elected President of Women in Business and was a founding board member of Global Women's Leadership Network, both at Santa Clara University. As an active member of the Rotary Club of Los Gatos, she has served food to the homeless at St. Luke's, painted a home for a senior through Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley, and participated in the Homeless Garden in Santa Cruz.
She is married to an Alameda County Fire Captain and has two daughters who attend public school in Los Gatos. Heidi has served as a committee chairperson for the home and school club, an executive board member and coach for Branham Hills Girls Softball, a troop leader for Girl Scouts of Northern California, a coach for Los Gatos United Soccer. She is active at the elementary school as a library reader and Art Vistas helper.
Heidi holds a Masters in Business Administration from Santa Clara University and a BA in Business Administration from California State University. She worked full-time continuously during her academic pursuits, self-funding her education.
